The 5 Key Online Business Assets For Guaranteed Success
Success in internet business is actually very simple to guarantee. You simply need to understand and cultivate your business assets, and ensure that you work consistently to grow and maintain them.
Most people fail because they either don’t understand one or more of these assets, or they don’t do consistent work and never reach that “tipping point” where it all falls together and begins to make them a steadily growing income.
Your Online Business Assets
1. Your Website
A website that ranks on search engines in one of the most important assets you can have. If you are relying on affiliate marketing and marketing other people’s sites you are being very short sighted. You can earn money in the short term, but just like in a job you are really only working to build someone else’s site and help them in their business.
It can be incredibly easy to get a simple blog going, and from there you only need to be updating your blog and building links to it. The easiest way to get a blog going is to get it done for you so it will be fully optimized for search engine ranking and for viral social media marketings (the best and cheapest option I can recommend is Empower Network, you can get your blog instantly setup with them: Here).
How to build this asset: Keep updating your blog, and build links back to your articles. You can do this through social media, pinging and article directories (full details in the Rebel Marketers Manual, you can pick up your free copy to the right of this page).
2. Your List
People buy from those they know, like and trust. This means that people need to get to know you before they will buy from you. It is vital that you are growing a list of people that have asked to hear more from you. You can grow your list both organically, through your blog and your search engine traffic, and via paid advertising. My favourite list building technique is solo ads. You can pay someone else to promote you and your products to their list.
3. Your Social Media Contacts
Your friends list on Facebook and followers on Twitter are fast becoming as important to your business as your email marketing lists. This is because these people not only get to hear about your new articles and websites, they also get to see your pictures, here about your family, and generally get to know you as a real person. It’s VITAL that you treat your Facebook and Twitter contacts as real friends, not leads. It turns out that this also makes things a lot more fun as you really get to know people when you stop seeing little dollar signs on everyone!
Build your social media contacts slowly. I recommend spending 30 minutes a day adding a few more people to your list, and making personal contact to say hi and introduce yourself. Remember this is about building a business asset, not making a quick buck. So don’t throw your links around the second you get a new friend on your list. Say hi, and get to know them.
4. Your Relationship with Your List
This is as important as the list itself and takes time to grow. You need to think about what your list is getting from you. Are they getting hammered with marketing emails, or are they getting solid information that they can use without having to buy all your products from day one? Are they getting to see that you are a real person, through your personal stories and posts?
One of the best ways to build a solid relationship with your list is to not rely too heavily on autoresponders, but use blog posts to communicate with them. That way your list can get short, non-markety emails from you telling them you have a new blog post. When they get good information from your blog posts it will make them more likely to open your emails and they will like you better for it.
5. Your Skills
This is the most overlooked asset in online business, yet it is VITAL. You need skills in copywriting, sales funnels, link building, article writing, etc. The good thing is the more consistently you work and test the better and better you will get at it all. Just like any skill or learning a sport you need to exercise and practice to get better. A great way to build this is to leverage the skills of others while you are practicing and improving your own skills. Remember, every single thing you do in your business should be around building one of these assets. So when you sit down to write a blog decide if you are going to write a relationship building blog or a link building blog. When you pay for traffic, monitor your conversion rates (from visitors to opt-ins) to ensure you are getting the lowest price for new list member. When you visit Facebook, think about adding new people that seem like someone you would actually want to do business with.
Consistency is key. Do consistent work DAILY to build up these assets, and you can’t go wrong. Make sure that people have the opportunity to buy from you, without shoving it in their face.
