If you can learn to harness the motivation you have as an employee you can easily become a network marketing success!

Network marketing success often eludes people as they know how to be the employee, not how to be the boss!  Employees are typically motivated to keep doing their job by one of three things:

1. Reliance on the paycheck!

Most people these days live “paycheck to paycheck”.  This means they aren’t saving anything, they have no safety net and spend all their money each month.  So they desperately need the money every month! If they were to suddenly quit their job or get fired they would have nothing to live on.  They might lose their home, not be able to feed their family, etc.  So the paycheck becomes a HUGE motivator to do the job and do it well.

2. Fear of the boss

Most people have at some time have experienced boss fear!  In the past it made me not only toe the line, but do a good job.  I strived to hit targets and meet deadlines because I knew on Monday morning I would have to have to go over all the KPIs with my boss and explain my actions and results.  There is something really powerful about someone else checking on your work.  Most people react by trying to do their best. They either seek praise or don’t want to get in trouble!

3. They Enjoy Their Work

This is sadly not the case for most people,  but many do enjoy their work and work hard at it!  I know at least one home business owner who is doing incredibly well in home business but hasn’t quit his job because he loves it!  If you are one of these people great! If not, you need to figure out how to achieve network marketing success so you can get out!

Treat your business as if it’s a job!!

You know you can drag yourself out of bed at 6am even though you were up all night watching tv, you can force yourself to do something you don’t enjoy for the thousandth time, you can listen to someone telling you your doing a terrible job and STILL get up the next morning to go back in for more.  If you can do all that why can’t you put in 1 or 2 hours every day to reach network marketing success???

Simple, you’re not motivated by a guaranteed paycheck, by a boss looking over your shoulder, and you may not even be enjoying the work.

So how can you fix this problem to finally reach network marketing success? You treat your business like a job!!

Network Marketing Success Through Harnessing Your Employee Mindset:

1. Schedule in your work time

Get your spouse, friend, neighbour, internet chat buddy, SOMEONE to hold you to that time.  Consider it like clocking in and out of work, and don’t change the schedule because you feel like it. Set an alarm if you have to, but make sure someone besides you is holding you accountable to this work.

2. Get a “Boss”

Ok, you will actually be your own boss, but we’ve already learned that people are motivated by desire to please others (particularly those they don’t know well, i.e. not a spouse or friend).  They don’t want to disappoint.  So you need to become part of a mastermind.  Find 2 or 3 other people with similar objectives so you can help hold each other accountable to your work.  You need to be reporting what you are doing, what you plan to do, and your results.  You also can use the group to brainstorm ideas.

3. Have a clear goal.

I hate using the word goal because so many people have a poor understanding of it.  So treat your goal like a work project.  If you were targeting a specific objective in work you would have to come up with a plan for what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it, and a deadline for achieving it.  The deadline is the most important part.

You’ve probably pulled an “all-nighter” before to finish a project or paper.  That’s because someone else gave you a deadline.  Can you see yourself staying up all night to work on your MLM to meet your goal??  Probably only if there was some consequence to not doing it.  So share your deadline and goal with your mastermind group and get them to help you stick to it.  If you aren’t hitting your targets start staying up all night to get the work done if you have to!

4.  Find a way to be doing something you love!!

If you don’t love your MLM company, find one that you do!! If you don’t like marketing or prospecting, learn new ways to do it that you do enjoy.  Network marketing success does take work, and you don’t want to be trading one thing you don’t like (your job) for another.  Learn about different marketing techniques and select one that suits you.

There will always be aspects that you wont enjoy as much, but if you enjoy the bulk of your work you will find that it gets easier and easier to achieve your dreams!

Implementing Magnetic Sponsoring In Your MLM Business

Magnetic Sponsoring is an absolutely fantastic e-book that has completely transformed the MLM industry as we know it (if you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend you pick up a copy right away!)  But the truth is that it doesn’t work for everyone.  For many networkers it has just added extra confusion and difficulty as they have struggled to understand how to implement Magnetic Sponsoring to actually make sales in their MLM business.

So why have some people been more successful than others??  It’s actually very simple, only some people took the message of the book to heart and understood that the key to magnetic sponsoring is to make yourself different from everyone else!  You need to find a way to set yourself apart from the masses and give others a reason to want to work with you.

The heart of Magnetic Sponsoring is becoming valuable.

If you aren’t in some way providing value for your leads they won’t want to sign up with you and will probably stop opening your emails.  Most people don’t know how to become valuable! You do it by being an expert in MLM success.  And what does it take to be an expert in MLM success????  Knowledge.  You simply need to know a little bit more than your leads and then keep teaching them.

3 Steps to Implementing Magnetic Sponsoring

1. Set Up Websites and a System that Brands You

You first need somewhere for people to find you!  I always suggest a blog (if you don’t know how to start one check out the How to Blog Tutorial) .  It will take a bit of time for your blog to get good traffic online, so use a good MLM Marketing system to create targeted lead capture pages in the meantime so you can start advertising and growing your list.  (You can check out a review of the system I use by Clicking Here).Make sure you are then communicating with your list and alerting them whenever you have good blog posts.

Differentiate yourself from other marketers.  What makes you unique?? Find a way to put your own personality into your blogs and pages so people get to know the real you!

All good MLM marketing systems nowadays will also set up your funded proposal for you (as in they will have incorporated good products and services to promote)  So don’t get caught in the typical trap most people do when starting to use Magnetic Sponsoring, they learn about funded proposals and get caught up trying to make money off of Magnetic sponsoring and other affiliate programs, this is just a secondary objective.  Don’t forget, Magnetic Sponsoring is about being valuable so you can get others to join your MLM business!!!

2. Learn

The most important thing you can do for your business is LEARN, LEARN, LEARN!!!! I can’t stress this enough! Mike Dillard does go over this in the Magnetic Sponsoring e-book, but most people don’t take it to heart.  If you aren’t learning you aren’t adding value, and you are just like everyone else out there.  It’s easy to continuously learn, find the blogs of top leaders and get on their RSS feed so you keep up to date, buy new courses that will teach you new skills in the industry, pick up the What’s Working Now network marketing newsletter, if your marketing system includes good weekly trainings GET ON THEM!!

3. Teach

Use your blog or email follow up to teach your leads what you are learning! It’s really that simple.  Learn, teach, learn, teach.  If you write blogs or teach someone about everything you learn you will understand it better and become a true expert in network marketing in NO TIME!

Small Potatoes Become Huge Harvests!

As most of my readers already know I’ve recently had a beautiful baby boy! He’s nearly four weeks old and we like to jokingly call him “Small Potato” (even though he’s a big baby, compared to his big sister he seems tiny!)

Newborns are unbelievably cute, but they are also a lot of work.  The good news is, as long as you keep feeding them and don’t get in the way of their sleep they will continue to grow and grow and grow.  And one day, you’ll have a fully grown adult! They may even be bigger than you.  It’s amazing.

So what does this have to do with potatoes, or even MLMs??

A lot of people who consider becoming an entrepreneur consider the network marketing industry to be a bit “small potatoes”.  You typically make small profits on each sale, you only have to invest a small amount, and most people don’t make much money at all.  Why?  Well, it’s typically because they’ve only invested a small amount it’s very easy for them to not take it seriously and to quit when it’s tough.  Also as they only make small profits per sale it takes awhile for it to build up to a decent income!  Many new MLMers are just dipping their toe in the home business industry and go running back to their jobs when they realize it will take time and work!

Well, your MLM business is a bit like having a newborn.  You need to keep feeding it with work for it to become anything and above all you have to get out of the way and give it time!  You wouldn’t expect a newborn to sit up on it’s own, or stand, or walk, or talk, or do anything most people can do.  But you have faith that if you keep feeding it and give it time it will eventually do all of those things and much more!  At the start you need to feed it and hold it constantly and change it’s nappies and it’s hard work, but eventually it will go off to college and have it’s own life!

Your MLM business will eventually get good lead flow, then it will start to get a trickle of sign-ups, then it will begin to become a team effort, then it will take off on its own and there will be no stopping it!  You will eventually get to the point where you are making huge checks with very little effort.  You just need to do two things that most network marketers never do:

1. Work consistently, every day, without fail!

Don’t “work” by checking emails and monitoring lead flow, I mean work by picking a marketing strategy and implimenting it DAILY.  Figure out how to carve time out of your normal schedule so you can work daily and begin to feed your business with your work!

2. Give it time!

Don’t give up, no matter what. If you run out of money use free advertising methods (they work better anyway!) or  impliment a funded proposal. If you have no time then set your alarm clock an hour earlier so you can squeeze in some work before your day (or if your brain is mush in the morning like mine, work on your lunch break or stay up an hour later).  The main reason people fail is they quit too early.

This is the only formula for success: Pick a marketing strategy, do it daily (feed your business), and don’t quit (give it time to grow)!

If you are really consistent with your marketing strategy and really do work at it daily you should expect to see some strong results within 90 days and your business should be really flying within 6 months! So mark it on the calendar.  If you are honest with yourself and do the work daily you are allowed to quit in 6 months.  But I promise if you’re consistent your “small potatoes” will turn into a MASSIVE harvest!

3 Tests For Deciding on an MLM Marketing System

How to decide if an MLM Marketing System will work for you!

If you’ve spent any time at all in the MLM business you’ve probably realized that you need to find and impliment a good MLM marketing system to really achieve success.   Some people do become successful by going it alone, designing their own marketing websites, creating follow-up autoresponders, figuring out new marketing techniques to impliment.  But it’s as their team grows bigger that they run into a problem.  The teammembers they’ve brought in wont necessarily have the same technical skills and drive that they had at the start and so they are not able to duplicate their success throughout their team.

Most new MLMers quit within the first 90 days because they thought it would be easy and then find that they need to learn a lot of new skills.  So if you want high retention rates and duplication within your team, as well as a simpler and faster way to achieve success yourself you need to find and plug into a good MLM marketing system.

Well, there are a lot of good MLM marketing systems out there and to be fair and unbiased I am not going to reveal in this article which one I use, but rather give you three simple tests to put any MLM marketing system through to be sure that it’s going to actually help you!

What to Look for in an MLM Marketing System

1. Main Site Rating:

Any good MLM marketing system will provide a way for you to earn commissions when your recommend it to your team or other MLMers.  So you can typically judge how well a system is doing and how many people they have promoting their system by how much traffic they are getting.  A great way to tell this is by their website ranking!  Visit Alexa.com and type the main web address of the system (hint, sometimes they have secondary domains that FORWARD to their main domain, you can check by visiting the site and seeing does the address change to a different domain when the site loads) into the search bar.  You will get statistics on the websites ranking compared to all other sites online. I would really only consider a system that ranks within the top 10,000 sites online.

2. Unlimited and Changeable Websites

To effectively market online you need an MLM marketing system that provides websites you can both use as is (for immediate implimentation) and websites you can alter (so you can brand yourself, add videos, target specific prospects, etc.)

Make sure the system offers both options.  Remember when you are marketing the most effective opt-in pages are specific (i.e. offering a specific training, targetting people from a specific company or background, etc). So if you find an MLM marketing system that provides opt-in pages already offering specific trainings that’s a great way to start.

3. Training

This is actually the most important component in an MLM marketing system and one that so many people overlook! To stay on top of the network marketing game you need to constantly stay updated with what’s actually working now.  You need to be sure both that the system provides good training on various different marketing techniques, but also that it is constantly  being updated and new trainings are being provided at least weekly.  A good thing to check for is that the leaders of the system are actually active and successful network marketers.  If they were successful years ago and now just rely on their system to make them money they wont be up-to-date on how to market now.

For MLM lead generation to be effective you have to focus both on quantity AND quality.

If you have highly qualified leads, but only get 5 a week you wont be successful.  Equally, if you buy a leads list with 500 leads, but they have been sold multiple times or aren’t actually looking for a home business you are still going to fail.

You need to focus on MLM lead generation techniques that not only can bring in a lot of leads, but will also bring you the most highly qualified leads.

The #1 secret to good MLM lead generation:   The more the lead knows you and who you are, the more open and interested they will be in your opportunity.

With that in mind, here are the 9 major MLM lead generation techniques in order from most effective to least effective in generating the HIGHEST QUALITY leads.

1. Tapping the Warm Market -

Distasteful to some, but your warm market will always be the most qualified leads there are.  These people already know, like and trust you, so are more likely to take a leap of faith if you recommend your MLM company.  Often they are not looking for a business, but become interested as they see you getting excited and starting to make money.

This MLM lead generation technique is always more effective the more money you have made, as your friends and family will see your lifestyle changing and will want in!

2. Creating Face to Face leads

Again, people shy away from meeting people face to face, but leads you have generated this way will always be more qualified because they really see you as a real person.  This technique is most effective when you attend networking events, begin to make real connections, and pass out your business cards.  Be open to discussing other people’s interests as well.  Sometimes you will find that people are interested in a certain aspect of your business, and they end up embracing the entire opportunity.

I don’t recommend approaching people in the supermarket or the street, this just looks desperate.  But if you meet people at a professional event, where they view you as a fellow professional, you can create really solid leads that answer your calls and treat you with respect.

3. Social Media

The BEST way to do online MLM lead generation.  This one is (and should be) a slow-burner MLM lead generation technique.  You need to remember that the quality of the lead is directly related to the quality of the relationship.  This is about creating friendships with people who have similar interests, getting to know them, letting them see you as a genuine person, then letting them approach you about what you do.

4. Blogging

A blog is a great way to establish your authority online.  If you are writing great articles that are genuinely helpful, people will keep coming back for more.  This is both helping people to view you as an expert, but also letting them get to know you through your writing style, your videos and pictures.  A well run blog will help people see that you are a real person, but also that you know what you are talking about.

You need to make sure you give people a good reason to sign up as a lead as well.  A lot of people waste their blogs by not capitalizing on the traffic coming through. A blog should really be the center of your business and leads you get from other places should still be directed to your blog through emails so they get to know you better and see your expertise.

5. Article Marketing

Again this helps build your authority in the eyes of your leads.  If you have written high quality articles and put them on a good authority article site people often want to learn more from you.  They then click on your links in your resource box and end up signing up as a lead to learn more from you.

In this technique they still don’t know you very well, and a good idea is to send them to your blog or a site where they get to see your name, pictures or videos, so you can start making them more qualified straight away.

6. Offline Paid Ads

This MLM lead generation technique can help you get leads fast, but they will not be very high quality.  The benefit is you can borrow the authority of the newspaper or magazine you are advertising in.  Basically, if the person trusts the newspaper, they will have a little more faith that you are advertising a legitimate opportunity.  Capitalize on this by being very professional with your leads on the phone.  These leads are not expecting to make a friend or get to know you, they want to hear your information and make their decision quickly.  Don’t drag it out too much.

7. PPC

This is similar to the offline paid ads, except in this case you don’t have borrowed authority.  The key to effective PPC is to have a high budget so you can generate and talk to a large quantity of leads.  These leads are often people who clicked out of  curiousity, but they are often very suspicious of you and your company.  Many times they have entered their details into a few places at once and they won’t remember your site specifically.  If you have a good budget, this is a great way to talk to a lot of people fast and get going!

8. Buying lead lists

This is a way to guarantee your MLM lead generation, but you need to be prepared that people won’t know who you are and will be very suspicious.  If you are going to buy leads spend a little more money on a list that is fresh, that have actually asked for the information, and that haven’t been sold to 100 other marketers!

9. Cold Calling

Everyone’s least favourite MLM lead generation technique, and with good reason.  If you cold call from a phone book, or a list of realtors, etc; you need a thick skin! People don’t like to be cold-called.  If you do want to do this then learn some techniques in targeting a particular profession, etc so you have a jumping off point for the conversation.  Again, this technique is about plowing through the numbers.  And remember, fortunes have been made in this industry JUST from cold calling!

 

So keep in mind, the better the person feels like they know you, the better they are as a lead! Pick a strategy that you can invest your time into and start getting to know people!

Every MLM lead generation technique works, you just need to dedicate yourself to it and get out there and take some action!

Beat Laziness: Become an MLM success by being more consistent than everyone else!

Why is Consistency so Important to MLM Success Anyway?

1. Being Consistent is Easier than Being Inconsistent

This may surprise you, but the more consistently you do something the easier it becomes.  Once you’ve figured out what you need to do and you start to do it consistently everyday you will become better and better at it.  This means when you sit down to do work you will waste less time trying to “get back into it” and will simply take the next action from where you left off.

It is also mentally easier.  Have you noticed when you are inconsistent you suffer more from business guilt and uncertainty.  Consistent action will help you be certain that you are going to become an MLM success, as long as you keep going. (Remember 90 days is that magic number for your efforts to really take hold!)

2. You will beat the competition

There is a lot of competition out there in the network marketing industry.  You may not have the resources that some of your competition has, but you can be more consistent than just about everyone by simply following your daily plan for 90 days.  Most people give up around 30 days, or at least start to slack off a bit.  Most people are lazy! This is where you can take advantage of your momentum and beat the competition.

Remember, you will not only become better at what you are doing, but you will also have the benefit of the work you have already done.  For example, if you are trying to rank your blog in Google it will become easier to rank for more competitive keywords as you go.  Google will see you as more of an authority site as you build and will choose your website to rank more easily.

How to Be Consistent and Become an MLM Success

The reason most people are inconsistent is twofold.  Most strategies take about 2 to 3 mths before you really start to see good results and many people are not able to work without seeing instant results.  People don’t usually value their business.  They got into network marketing to have more time or money, so they rarely want to invest the time or money it will take for them to become an MLM success!

Here are a few tricks to help you become consistent and reach MLM success:

1. Create Inspiration Triggers

The more obsessed you are with your business the more likely it is you will work.  What inspires you to work?  What makes you want to work on your business?  It’s different for different people.  For me, it’s typically books.  When I don’t feel like working I tell myself that’s ok, I’ll read something like Think and Grow Rich instead.  After about ten minutes of reading I realize that I really do care about my current goal and instantly want to dive into work!

Your inspiration triggers could be:reading this blog ;) , reading success stories, reading personal development books, getting on company calls, working through trainings, re-reading your goals, making a journal about your progress, etc.  Whatever makes you feel inspired to get going!

Have plenty of ammo to fight laziness!

2. Create Rewards

If you’d REALLY rather watch that tv show, or go to bed early, etc.  Give yourself what you want as a reward.  If you are doing article marketing you could tell yourself that you get to watch the show as a treat when you’ve finished one article.  This can also help you work more quickly as you have something to look forward to at the end.

This way you can enjoy the things you love without guilt as you know they are a reward for your hard work!

3. Create Schedules

The easiest way to be consistent is to treat your network marketing business like a job.  Schedule in your work time and actually follow that schedule.  Go to your desk, lock the door, and get working.  This can really help if you are struggling to find time in your day to work.  You could set 8 to 9 every evening as work time and then tell your family they need to work around it!  This really helped me as my family knows what times I am available to them and we can schedule our plans around my work times!

4. Celebrate Your Wins

It can be hard to motivate yourself to be consistent.  Nothing makes people more consistent than seeing results! So see results EVERYWHERE.  Your results might start out as the time you are putting in, then the next week you can start measuring traffic you are driving, eventually you will be measuring results in leads, then finally in money!  It will take time with any strategy to get to making money!  So don’t start out using that as your measure of success….at first your consistent action is a measure.  As you get more results you know what you’re doing is working…and the money will eventually come if you KEEP working.

The Real Key to Consistency and MLM Success

1. Make sure you are consistent at the right things! A lot of people are great at being consistent at checking their emails, checking if leads came in, watching trainings, etc.  But this wont get you leads or MLM success!  You need to be consistent at money making activities.  If you’re not sure what to do, you can start by taking the MLM lead generation bootcamp (just fill in your details at the right for access) and it will take you step by step through creating high-quality leads.

2. Have a goal!  I know you’ve heard this a million times, but if you’re actually working TOWARDS something it is easier to do the work! Don’t just decide to be an MLM success, decide what that means to you.  Exactly how much do you want to be earning in 90 days.

3. Remember the 90 days rule.  Any MLM strategy will work for you, but nearly ALL of them take about 90 days to see consistent results! Don’t crap out at 30 days like everyone else.  Push through and commit yourself to 90 days of consistent work.  If you want you can go back to being a coach potato after 90 days, but give your dreams and future 90 days of consistency and you will become an MLM success!
