How to decide if an MLM Marketing System will work for you!

If you’ve spent any time at all in the MLM business you’ve probably realized that you need to find and impliment a good MLM marketing system to really achieve success.   Some people do become successful by going it alone, designing their own marketing websites, creating follow-up autoresponders, figuring out new marketing techniques to impliment.  But it’s as their team grows bigger that they run into a problem.  The teammembers they’ve brought in wont necessarily have the same technical skills and drive that they had at the start and so they are not able to duplicate their success throughout their team.

Most new MLMers quit within the first 90 days because they thought it would be easy and then find that they need to learn a lot of new skills.  So if you want high retention rates and duplication within your team, as well as a simpler and faster way to achieve success yourself you need to find and plug into a good MLM marketing system.

Well, there are a lot of good MLM marketing systems out there and to be fair and unbiased I am not going to reveal in this article which one I use, but rather give you three simple tests to put any MLM marketing system through to be sure that it’s going to actually help you!

What to Look for in an MLM Marketing System

1. Main Site Rating:

Any good MLM marketing system will provide a way for you to earn commissions when your recommend it to your team or other MLMers.  So you can typically judge how well a system is doing and how many people they have promoting their system by how much traffic they are getting.  A great way to tell this is by their website ranking!  Visit Alexa.com and type the main web address of the system (hint, sometimes they have secondary domains that FORWARD to their main domain, you can check by visiting the site and seeing does the address change to a different domain when the site loads) into the search bar.  You will get statistics on the websites ranking compared to all other sites online. I would really only consider a system that ranks within the top 10,000 sites online.

2. Unlimited and Changeable Websites

To effectively market online you need an MLM marketing system that provides websites you can both use as is (for immediate implimentation) and websites you can alter (so you can brand yourself, add videos, target specific prospects, etc.)

Make sure the system offers both options.  Remember when you are marketing the most effective opt-in pages are specific (i.e. offering a specific training, targetting people from a specific company or background, etc). So if you find an MLM marketing system that provides opt-in pages already offering specific trainings that’s a great way to start.

3. Training

This is actually the most important component in an MLM marketing system and one that so many people overlook! To stay on top of the network marketing game you need to constantly stay updated with what’s actually working now.  You need to be sure both that the system provides good training on various different marketing techniques, but also that it is constantly  being updated and new trainings are being provided at least weekly.  A good thing to check for is that the leaders of the system are actually active and successful network marketers.  If they were successful years ago and now just rely on their system to make them money they wont be up-to-date on how to market now.

For MLM lead generation to be effective you have to focus both on quantity AND quality.

If you have highly qualified leads, but only get 5 a week you wont be successful.  Equally, if you buy a leads list with 500 leads, but they have been sold multiple times or aren’t actually looking for a home business you are still going to fail.

1. Tapping the Warm Market -

Distasteful to some, but your warm market will always be the most qualified leads there are.  These people already know, like and trust you, so are more likely to take a leap of faith if you recommend your MLM company.  Often they are not looking for a business, but become interested as they see you getting excited and starting to make money.

This MLM lead generation technique is always more effective the more money you have made, as your friends and family will see your lifestyle changing and will want in!

2. Creating Face to Face leads

Again, people shy away from meeting people face to face, but leads you have generated this way will always be more qualified because they really see you as a real person.  This technique is most effective when you attend networking events, begin to make real connections, and pass out your business cards.  Be open to discussing other people’s interests as well.  Sometimes you will find that people are interested in a certain aspect of your business, and they end up embracing the entire opportunity.

I don’t recommend approaching people in the supermarket or the street, this just looks desperate.  But if you meet people at a professional event, where they view you as a fellow professional, you can create really solid leads that answer your calls and treat you with respect.

3. Social Media

The BEST way to do online MLM lead generation.  This one is (and should be) a slow-burner MLM lead generation technique.  You need to remember that the quality of the lead is directly related to the quality of the relationship.  This is about creating friendships with people who have similar interests, getting to know them, letting them see you as a genuine person, then letting them approach you about what you do.

4. Blogging

A blog is a great way to establish your authority online.  If you are writing great articles that are genuinely helpful, people will keep coming back for more.  This is both helping people to view you as an expert, but also letting them get to know you through your writing style, your videos and pictures.  A well run blog will help people see that you are a real person, but also that you know what you are talking about.

You need to make sure you give people a good reason to sign up as a lead as well.  A lot of people waste their blogs by not capitalizing on the traffic coming through. A blog should really be the center of your business and leads you get from other places should still be directed to your blog through emails so they get to know you better and see your expertise.

5. Article Marketing

Again this helps build your authority in the eyes of your leads.  If you have written high quality articles and put them on a good authority article site people often want to learn more from you.  They then click on your links in your resource box and end up signing up as a lead to learn more from you.

In this technique they still don’t know you very well, and a good idea is to send them to your blog or a site where they get to see your name, pictures or videos, so you can start making them more qualified straight away.

6. Offline Paid Ads

This MLM lead generation technique can help you get leads fast, but they will not be very high quality.  The benefit is you can borrow the authority of the newspaper or magazine you are advertising in.  Basically, if the person trusts the newspaper, they will have a little more faith that you are advertising a legitimate opportunity.  Capitalize on this by being very professional with your leads on the phone.  These leads are not expecting to make a friend or get to know you, they want to hear your information and make their decision quickly.  Don’t drag it out too much.

7. PPC

This is similar to the offline paid ads, except in this case you don’t have borrowed authority.  The key to effective PPC is to have a high budget so you can generate and talk to a large quantity of leads.  These leads are often people who clicked out of  curiousity, but they are often very suspicious of you and your company.  Many times they have entered their details into a few places at once and they won’t remember your site specifically.  If you have a good budget, this is a great way to talk to a lot of people fast and get going!

8. Buying lead lists

This is a way to guarantee your MLM lead generation, but you need to be prepared that people won’t know who you are and will be very suspicious.  If you are going to buy leads spend a little more money on a list that is fresh, that have actually asked for the information, and that haven’t been sold to 100 other marketers!

9. Cold Calling

Everyone’s least favourite MLM lead generation technique, and with good reason.  If you cold call from a phone book, or a list of realtors, etc; you need a thick skin! People don’t like to be cold-called.  If you do want to do this then learn some techniques in targeting a particular profession, etc so you have a jumping off point for the conversation.  Again, this technique is about plowing through the numbers.  And remember, fortunes have been made in this industry JUST from cold calling!

So keep in mind, the better the person feels like they know you, the better they are as a lead! Pick a strategy that you can invest your time into and start getting to know people!

Beat Laziness: Become an MLM success by being more consistent than everyone else!

Why is Consistency so Important to MLM Success Anyway?

1. Being Consistent is Easier than Being Inconsistent

This may surprise you, but the more consistently you do something the easier it becomes.  Once you’ve figured out what you need to do and you start to do it consistently everyday you will become better and better at it.  This means when you sit down to do work you will waste less time trying to “get back into it” and will simply take the next action from where you left off.

It is also mentally easier.  Have you noticed when you are inconsistent you suffer more from business guilt and uncertainty.  Consistent action will help you be certain that you are going to become an MLM success, as long as you keep going. (Remember 90 days is that magic number for your efforts to really take hold!)

2. You will beat the competition

There is a lot of competition out there in the network marketing industry.  You may not have the resources that some of your competition has, but you can be more consistent than just about everyone by simply following your daily plan for 90 days.  Most people give up around 30 days, or at least start to slack off a bit.  Most people are lazy! This is where you can take advantage of your momentum and beat the competition.

Remember, you will not only become better at what you are doing, but you will also have the benefit of the work you have already done.  For example, if you are trying to rank your blog in Google it will become easier to rank for more competitive keywords as you go.  Google will see you as more of an authority site as you build and will choose your website to rank more easily.

How to Be Consistent and Become an MLM Success

The reason most people are inconsistent is twofold.  Most strategies take about 2 to 3 mths before you really start to see good results and many people are not able to work without seeing instant results.  People don’t usually value their business.  They got into network marketing to have more time or money, so they rarely want to invest the time or money it will take for them to become an MLM success!

Here are a few tricks to help you become consistent and reach MLM success:

1. Create Inspiration Triggers

The more obsessed you are with your business the more likely it is you will work.  What inspires you to work?  What makes you want to work on your business?  It’s different for different people.  For me, it’s typically books.  When I don’t feel like working I tell myself that’s ok, I’ll read something like Think and Grow Rich instead.  After about ten minutes of reading I realize that I really do care about my current goal and instantly want to dive into work!

Your inspiration triggers could be:reading this blog , reading success stories, reading personal development books, getting on company calls, working through trainings, re-reading your goals, making a journal about your progress, etc.  Whatever makes you feel inspired to get going!

Have plenty of ammo to fight laziness!

2. Create Rewards

If you’d REALLY rather watch that tv show, or go to bed early, etc.  Give yourself what you want as a reward.  If you are doing article marketing you could tell yourself that you get to watch the show as a treat when you’ve finished one article.  This can also help you work more quickly as you have something to look forward to at the end.

This way you can enjoy the things you love without guilt as you know they are a reward for your hard work!

3. Create Schedules

The easiest way to be consistent is to treat your network marketing business like a job.  Schedule in your work time and actually follow that schedule.  Go to your desk, lock the door, and get working.  This can really help if you are struggling to find time in your day to work.  You could set 8 to 9 every evening as work time and then tell your family they need to work around it!  This really helped me as my family knows what times I am available to them and we can schedule our plans around my work times!

4. Celebrate Your Wins

It can be hard to motivate yourself to be consistent.  Nothing makes people more consistent than seeing results! So see results EVERYWHERE.  Your results might start out as the time you are putting in, then the next week you can start measuring traffic you are driving, eventually you will be measuring results in leads, then finally in money!  It will take time with any strategy to get to making money!  So don’t start out using that as your measure of success….at first your consistent action is a measure.  As you get more results you know what you’re doing is working…and the money will eventually come if you KEEP working.

The Real Key to Consistency and MLM Success

1. Make sure you are consistent at the right things! A lot of people are great at being consistent at checking their emails, checking if leads came in, watching trainings, etc.  But this wont get you leads or MLM success!  You need to be consistent at money making activities.  If you’re not sure what to do, you can start by taking the MLM lead generation bootcamp (just fill in your details at the right for access) and it will take you step by step through creating high-quality leads.

2. Have a goal!  I know you’ve heard this a million times, but if you’re actually working TOWARDS something it is easier to do the work! Don’t just decide to be an MLM success, decide what that means to you.  Exactly how much do you want to be earning in 90 days.

3. Remember the 90 days rule.  Any MLM strategy will work for you, but nearly ALL of them take about 90 days to see consistent results! Don’t crap out at 30 days like everyone else.  Push through and commit yourself to 90 days of consistent work.  If you want you can go back to being a coach potato after 90 days, but give your dreams and future 90 days of consistency and you will become an MLM success!

ACN Reviews – The Company

ACN was founded in 1993 and started out in the long-distance phone product market.  Nowadays they are in 20 countries across 3 continents and have greatly expanded their product offering.  They use a network marketing model to promote their services (i.e. get independent associates to both sell the services and to recruit other independent associates).

Any company that has been around longer than about 3 years in this business is doing something right.  This means they have a large enough customer base to be competitive in the industry and that people are making money with the business (because when people don’t make money they leave and the business can’t be sustained.

The company also benefits from the endorsement of Donald Trump.  It’s rumored that Trump wanted to buy ACN years ago but the founding members turned him down.  Trump has since gone on to start his own network marketing company, The Trump Network.  We have to assume that he is paid a hefty chunk to endorse ACN, however it’s doubtful he would risk his reputation if he wasn’t confident that the company had good leadership and products.

ACN reviews could not be complete however without pointing out that the company has had it’s share of scrutiny.  Both in Canada and Australia they have fought claims of being a pyramid scheme.  They came out on top both times, which means that they are legally compliant.

ACN Reviews – The Products

ACN primarily now focuses on it’s video phone services, they offer an array of other telecom services as well.  This includes digital phone, cell phone and long distance services, satellite tv, home security, etc.  They mostly use other companies networks and act as a reseller.  This makes it impossible to judge if their products are better than the competition, because they are pretty much the same as the competition!

ACN has been appealing to network marketers because their products are things people already use.  You don’t have to convince anyone to start using them, just to change over.  The two downsides of the products are to be competitive they naturally have to have low profit margins, which means it takes time to build up an income, and you also often have customers that are willing to change but have pre-existing contracts with other providers.  You definitely don’t want to be following up with your leads in 6 mths to a year!

ACN Reviews – The Opportunity

ACN uses a typical network marketing model where you are paid commissions seven levels deep on both purchases from your customers and the customers of the reps you enroll in the opportunity.  The downside of this opportunity is that the nature of the telecoms industry means that profit margins are tiny.  You can expect that you will make money, but only if you work hard at it and build a huge organization.  The money is really going to come in by focusing more on building a team of leaders who are getting customers as well so you can leverage your efforts and build a large organization fast.  Don’t expect to make big bucks solely on convincing your friends and family to switch their services to ACN.

ACN has received a lot of bad press over the years from people who expected to make a lot of money fast, and were disappointed with small checks!  If you do decide to join you need to realistically expect it to take at least 6 months of hard work to build a decent income.  But if you aren’t prepared to put in hard work, you’re not likely to be successful at any home business!

ACN Reviews – The Truth

It comes down to this, don’t join ACN if you want to simply tell a few people about it and make a huge income.  It’s not going to happen!  However, this out-dated technique is what many ACN reps are still suggesting to their new recruits!

What you need is to learn how to actually be a success in network marketing.  You need to get specific and create a marketing plan for your next 3 to 6 months of how you will recruit others and get them working for you.  The best way to both learn the specific up-to-date techniques and get all the tools you will need to succeed in ACN or any home business is to use a proven system like Empower Network.

How To Use A Funded Proposal With Integrity!

Today my friend Lloyd asked me how you make money from people who don’t join your MLM business.  He felt that it sounded a bit like ripping people off or taking advantage of them.  I totally agree with him that it is very important to run a business with integrity and be sure that everything you do is helping, not harming.

So in answer to Lloyd’s question let’s look at how to do a funded proposal THE RIGHT WAY!

What is a Funded Proposal?

In Network Marketing a funded proposal means you make money from the people who decide not to join your business.  This only works in conjunction with attraction marketing.  You teach others how to be successful in a home based business.  In teaching them different tactics and techniques, you can also introduce them to tools to make this easier.  When someone purchases one of these tools you can make money through affilliate commissions.

For example, if you teach people how to do keyword research, you can show them the free way using Google Keyword tool and manually searching and investigating competition on every keyword.  You can also introduce them to a comprehensive tool that will do it all for them (such as Market Samurai).  This means that those people who want to leverage their time better will purchase the tool, but those who can’t afford it or prefer to spend the extra time doing keyword research manually have that option.

A good funded proposal is about TEACHING not selling!!!

Why use a Funded Proposal?

1. Many network marketers fail before they have had a chance to really build their business. Often they run out of money to advertise and then have no leads and have to give up!  A funded proposal allows you to create some cashflow for your business while you work on establishing yourself as a leader.  The process does take some time if you want to do it right, so you need to ensure your business stays afloat while you build.

2. A good funded proposal will add value for your leads.  If you have offered them something that genuinely assists them they will be thankful for it! Remember attraction marketing is all about people seeing you as a leader.  If they see results from a tool or system you recommended it will only make them value you more!

3. A funded proposal collects a Yes!  People like to stand by their decisions, they don’t like to feel they’ve made a mistake.  When someone purchases a tool you recommended they are more likely to follow your trainings and continue learning more from you.  They will remember you as the person who gave them help (maybe more than their upline has given) and will be more likely to ask about your business.

How to use a Funded Proposal with Integrity?

1. Allow your prospects to make their own decisions.  This is why I often teach the free way to do something, then show someone the tool.  They can decide if the tool will actually help them enough to be worth purchasing.  I never try to sell them anything, but allow them to come to the sometimes obvious realization that the tool will help them leverage their efforts and achieve success!  But if they are going to be a success they have to have decided for themselves, not have had you insisting that they need some tool.

2. NEVER promote something unproven.  This is the most important part of a funded proposal.  If you suggest something that you haven’t used or that isn’t proven you will do your business DAMAGE!! If the tool turns out to be useless or a waste of money, you have lost that person’s good faith FOREVER!  A good funded proposal is NOT about making money! It’s about teaching and helping others through providing value.  The cashflow you get from it is only a side-effect of having introduced someone to a tool, training, or service that will help them be a success!

Finding and promoting a good funded proposal can be challenging! Start Generating Qualified MLM Leads!

First off you need to know what makes qualified MLM leads.  The MOST qualified MLM leads are ALWAYS people who know the value of MLM and aren’t suspicious of the industry so you don’t have to convince them.

Therefore the most highly qualified MLM leads are people who are already in MLM, but struggling and in need of a strong leader (YOU!) or people who are actively looking to get involved in MLM.

The best way to find these people is by giving them training in how to be a success in MLM.  This is called Attraction Marketing.

So how can you use your opt-in page to generate qualified MLM leads?

1. Have a Video

• People like videos!  They have actually come to expect videos, and they simply aren’t bothered to read text on a page anymore.  If you are selling or offering anything (even if it’s free) they want you to tell them about it in a video, and keep your wording to a minimum.
• Video will help people get to know you as a REAL person.  You much prefer to have people on your list that actually know who you are and remember opting in to your site.  I know I am like most people and I’m ten times more likely to open an email if I recognize the name or remember that I asked for the info!

2.  Get Specific

• The more specific your website is the more people will opt-in….period.
• The first way to get specific is to be clear about who your website is for.  If it is for qualified MLM leads start with a headline like “Stop struggling in MLM”.  You want your prospect to immediately feel they have landed on a website tailor made for them!  The more specific to them you are, the more likely they will feel they have to get your information because it will be specific to their situation.   (Example: My opt-in pages typically have a 3-6% opt-in rate, but if I make a page for a specific MLM company, then use articles to drive reps or prospects for that company, my opt-in can go up to almost 20% and I get HIGHLY qualified MLM leads!)
• The second way to get specific is with what you are offering.  Don’t just tell people you will send them a free gift.  Tell them what the free gift will do for them!  If you are giving them a free training for opting in let them know how long the training is and what it will teach them (i.e. 90 minute free webinar will help you learn how to create 5-10 leads a day using a simple Facebook technique)  They opt in because they want to know the technique!
• Tease them a little.  I use my video to let them know that they will learn a simple secret that can completely revolutionize their business.  I tell them that they will learn this secret on the next page and that I will be specific, not vague.  Often people enter their details because they just want to know what that secret is, then I deliver them such high value that they become qualified MLM leads!

3. Deliver

• Think about where you are sending people once they have opted-in.  Most people won’t have a problem with you pitching a product on the back end, but ONLY if you’ve delivered what you promised first.  Make sure the first page they go to delivers!
• Remember how I promise people a secret??  The page they go to on signing up is a longer video going in depth into the secret that can completely change their business.  I deliver on my promise instantly.  They also then have the option to look at a product that can genuinely help them apply that secret, but it’s not rammed down their throuts and they can simply choose not to buy the product, they still get good info!
• Make sure your email follow up is not pushy.  Don’t tell them what they have to do!  They signed up for information, not to be pitched to…so make sure you are giving them great information first and foremost.  A list of qualified MLM leads that actually like and open your emails will be a huge asset in the long term!

Remember, traffic will only help you if you have a way to CAPTURE it!  You want people to come back, get to know you, and want to work with you.  So your opt-in page HAS to convert.  The easiest way to generate opt-in pages is to use a system that does it for you.  I always recommend MLSP because they have both opt-in pages you can customize with your videos and wording, but they also have opt-in pages that offer specific trainings that are proven to convert so that you don’t have to set this up yourself!
