If you are looking into MLM lead generation software, then you have probably already realized that purchasing leads doesn’t work, and that creating individual ads to market your company can be a long, grueling expensive process. Well the truth is, there is no magic pill that will solve this entire side of your business for you. Now that being said, choosing the right tool can make this side of things easy, automated, and remove the learning curve that causes most marketers to go broke before they ever get a chance to really grow their business.

There are a few components of a good MLM lead generation software that you must always look out for:

1. Customizable Websites
It is becoming more and more important these days to have a proven landing page that actually entices people to give you their information. If your landing page looks generic, or just like everything they have ever seen, people tend to just click away no matter how great your copy is. You need to find a tool that does the hard stuff, like the copy and market research, for you, but allows you to add your own pictures or videos to make you stand out from the crowd. Does it allow you to add your pictures and videos to the sales pages or information pages that follow when a lead does put their details into your system?

At this point you want your leads to see your face, hear your words of wisdom, and get to know who you are. This helps enormously when you do get to calling them, as they actually know who is on the other end of the phone and can completely remove the suspicion leads often feel when getting calls from marketers. Again, this will improve your conversions and help you spend your time talking to people who actually want to talk to you.

2. Automated Follow-up
This one can be a little tricky. You want your leads to receive automated emails so they don’t forget who you are and how you can help them solve their current problem or situation. The key is the follow-up. There are a few things to look out for however.

Is the copy editable?
I have used MLM lead generation software that didn’t allow me to edit the copy, so I had absolutely no control over what was being sent to the lead in my name. Now this is ok for some people, because you do need to have good copy and most people aren’t prepared to write it themselves. However, as you and your reputation grow you will want to add to your follow-up emails, maybe put in some of your own, send out mass messages when you have an important announcement for your list, etc. You are creating a relationship with these leads and you want to control that relationship so you can build their trust and even friendship over time.

Is the list yours?
This is my biggest problem with most MLM lead generation software out there. They store your leads for you within their system, but once you decide you want to change software or discontinue the service, the leads would simply disappear. Now you can obviously export the lead details, but the important thing to remember is you cannot email someone who has not given you their permission first. So you can’t simply export a list and continue to email these people whenever you want. They need to have opted in. Now you could try by importing your leads somewhere else and then asking them for permission again; however never, never forget the quality of the lead is in the relationship you have built with them. You never want to risk that relationship by doing something that might look dodgy to them.

3. Education
Online you are only as good as your education. Meaning, if you aren’t up-to-date with how to market your websites you will die a slow death. You need to ensure you are getting training that is completely up-to-date; and you can never get that from just one person! Your upline does care about your success, but they only know what has worked for them so far, and what works online changes daily. You need to ensure your MLM lead generation software provides training that is constantly updated by people who are actually on the ground, RIGHT NOW, working their own businesses and using the techniques they are teaching you themselves. I once had a company leader tell me I should go out and flyer parking-lots, because that had worked for her getting started eight years before. Now I don’t know about you, but these days flyers on cars are simply a nuisance destined for the bin. Obviously she wasn’t using that technique now, she was using the internet.

See if there is a way to get a sneak peak at some of the training you will have access to if you buy the system. Ensure it is current and updated weekly. This way you can leverage your time and lessen your learning curve, by implementing techniques that will work straight away.

4. Multiple Streams of Income
This is one rarely considered by most network marketers, but can drive people out of business. You are building a business, not a downline. To protect that business you need to create multiple streams of income, so should anything happen to your company (and a failing company happened to me twice before I found the right one!), you would suddenly and instantly be out of a paycheck.

A good MLM lead generation software will allow for you to earn commissions when you suggest it to your team. This has a two-fold benefit as taking away the learning fold for your team will help with retention and residual income, and it will also generate a second stream of income for you.
