To successfully take your MLM or Network Marketing business online you need to understand the three basic principles of the internet and how to truly attract people to you. If you understand and implement these principles properly you can easily become an Internet Network Marketing Star.
Principle #1- What are they looking for?
There are three types of people online, those who are looking for entertainment, those who are looking for information, and those who are looking to make a connection.
Bored People~ Those seeking entertainment ![]()
Now, discount the entertainment people because frankly they are not in an active mode, they are sitting back waiting for something to entertain them, they click on and off websites making snap decisions about whether or not they are interested. They usually end up on youtube watching endless videos of people falling down.
Info-Seekers
Those who are looking for information. These are the people making serious searches on Google. Who get to a site and click a few pages in to get all the information there. These people appreciate real information that they can take away and do something with. They tend to ignore ads. They are in a much more active mode while online and will follow a path of information to get as much as they can. These are where the people who are really serious about making money will be. They want to find real education that can assist them, and when they do find it they will continue to read more and more material on that site or by that author.
Connectors
Those who are looking for connection are usually not found searching things on Google. They generally go straight to Facebook, straight to Twitter, check what people are tweeting about today. When these decide to do business with someone on line they look to their online circle of friends. Now this can be a massive group. Those that are consistently marketing heavily are seen as marketers. Those that are giving them good information to them, checking in with a personal note, and showing that they are a real and genuine person are the people that will be trusted by connectors.
Now, I’m sure it’s obvious, but in order for you to successfully in your MLM internet network marketing you need to target the Info-seekers and the Connectors, and if you can reach the Info-seeking connectors that’s always best
.
Principle #2- Give Them What They Want
If your site delivers what people are looking for it means they will stay longer on your site. They will want to learn more from you and will be more interested in hearing about your opportunity. When you create a website that you are going to try to rank in Google’s organic search you will attract information seekers so pack it chock full of completely relevant information. Think about your target audience and what they will want to know about. What kind of search terms will they look for? What do they want to know? When you deliver dead-on quality information the Info-seekers will want to learn more from you. They see that you can deliver what they are looking for, they will sign up to your newsletter to learn more from you, and as long as you continue to deliver good quality content they will continue to see you as an authority in that area. So if you are an authority on making money online, or on working from home, etc. When they decide to commit to a business they will come back to you. They know that you can truly assist them because you ALREADY HAVE.
Now Connectors are a slightly different breed. They are looking to make genuine connections with people who have similar interests. So connect with them. When you request to be friends with someone on a social networking site, send them a personal note! Let them know what common interests you have (and make sure you only target people who do share interests consistent with you and your opportunity). When you talk on discussion boards talk about the shared interest, don’t just spam them with an ad. On your social media profiles put up photos of yourself. Show you are a real person. Again if you’ve genuinely made a connection people will be more interested in working with you. Don’t forget not all social media sites are the same. On Facebook you want to put up pictures of yourself and your family, share funnies with friends, keep it lighthearted. On LinkedIn you want to keep a professional manner, have a professional photo, deliver high-quality content on their discussion boards, and connect with people before asking to be their friend.
Principal #3- Consistency
It’s the same offline, enough consistent effort yields results. Here you want to make sure to be consistent with your audience. The truth is that whether you are seeking to work with Info-Seekers or Connectors or both, it is still about who you are being. Even thought the internet feels anonymous it is the largest social gathering place on the planet. You need to be consistent in your voice, your actions and your efforts. Once you’ve decided what your audience wants continue to deliver that. Keep it as specific as you can, while still providing room for growth. Keep your message clear. If you are targeting people who are interested in travel and other cultures, don’t suddenly switch to targeting people who own pets
. By being consistent you create a reliable voice and AUTHORITY on your subject.
Consistency is also important on social media platforms as well. You need to stay on them. Decide which ones you want to use (and I recommend only starting with two) and then use them daily. Decide how much you can do each day and still balance out your other marketing techniques.
Successful internet marketing is like a successful network marketing business. It builds. So if you don’t see a result from your efforts don’t give up after a few days. You need to consistently do it every day. Once traffic to your site and connections in your social networks start to grow, the growth becomes exponential quickly.
